The Delight of Birds
It’s February! Just a tiny hint of Spring to come. Here in rural Lincolnshire we’re lucky to have huge skies and are regularly treated to aerial displays of birds in flight…
Thinking about our feathered friends, there is something wonderful about the presence of birdsong. Stepping outside going about the ordinary business of being alive, and then — a song. A blackbird on a rooftop, pouring out its melody as if it had all the time in the world – and intended to use every second of it! In that moment, something lifts. The day reshapes itself around that sound. We breathe, smile… the world is wonderful again.
“Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.”
Henry Van Dyke
